Greenville, SC — VantagePoint, a marketing and advertising agency, has partnered with Miracle Hill Ministries to develop a unique awareness campaign to shine light on homelessness in the Upstate.

According to the South Carolina Council on Homelessness, there are 6,759 homeless individuals in the state of South Carolina. With seven specialized shelters, Miracle Hill reaches out to the homeless in four counties of upstate South Carolina to provide them with a bed, food, and clothing. To bring much-needed attention to this problem, VantagePoint has created a series of billboards that have been placed throughout the Upstate. Each billboard features a single image along with a two to three word description that will challenge the everyday perception of what it is like to be homeless and encourage people to learn how they can help. The billboards will remain up through mid-December.

On October 24, 2008, Miracle Hill Ministries will hold an inaugural event to provide Upstate youth with the opportunity to experience homelessness first hand while in a controlled environment to ensure their safety. The event, appropriately named "Boxed Out" requires participants to spend one night in a cardboard village with only a sleeping bag, flashlight, and food.
