On April 22, 2010 the South Carolina chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (SCPRSA) held its annual Mercury Awards banquet at the Riverbank Zoo in Columbia, SC. Since the event was held after regular zoo hours, it was a special treat to view the animals with just our group around.
The Mercury Awards were created by SCPRSA to recognize outstanding performance in the public relations, communications and marketing professions. As always, it was great to connect with others in the industry from around the state. In addition to catching up with fellow SCPRSA members, it is a great venue to discuss best practices with established public relations professionals.
Connecting with other practitioners was certainly a highlight, but the greatest moment of the evening was when VantagePoint was honored with two Silver Wing Awards for work completed on behalf of our client T&S Brass. It is such a privilege to be given the opportunity to produce work that delivers results for our clients. In this instance, our work was recognized for writing excellence in two categories: editorials and advertorials – tactics that we frequently use.
One of the biggest parts of public relations for our clients – since they are mostly in the B-to-B space – is media relations. With complicated sales channels and multiple target audiences, trade-specific publications can be a great way to build brand awareness and communicate corporate messaging. And I have to say that it’s always exciting to see an article for your client appear in an issue of one of their big industry publications.
Getting to see the kangaroos, elephants and monkeys was certainly fun, but what really gets me excited is the fact that VantagePoint continues to produce award-winning results for some great national and global clients. But we would not have the chance to do so unless we were given the opportunity from our clients; so, thank you!
